Luke’s marathon run
Luke Hurley of Oakdale, Gwent
Pounding 13 miles of tarmac around Oakdale in Gwent each Sunday morning must be a thankless task. No matter how cold; no matter how wet, the strides keep coming.
With the London Marathon on the horizon (24 April), however, the motivation is strong.
Raising £2,000 for Christian Aid is another powerful motivating factor for Luke Hurley, a 38 year old chartered building surveyor from south Wales. His passion for the work of Christian Aid is clear. He shares the concern for the world’s poor and is keen to help in the eradication of poverty.
Married to Tara and with four children, Luke jointly set up his property consultancy company some 11 years ago. They have offices in both Swansea and Caerphilly. Caring for a young family and running a business can be time consuming, and so early morning runs are a must.
As part of his training, Luke runs 13 miles each Sunday morning. In addition, he does another three shorter runs of around seven miles three times a week. Having completed one marathon four years ago, he knows the level of commitment it takes.
But Luke is up for the challenge! What about you?
